Highlights of a Great Match

It was a good match in the end.  The rallies were as gripping as an F1 race.  The winners were too risky to be dared.  In the first set, the match still appeared to be an even contest since both players were able to put pressure on each other’s service games.  Although Nadal took the first set 7-5 with two breaks of serve compared to Djokovic’ one, it was difficult to predict the direction of the game.

Come the second and third sets, Djokovic stole the thunder and looked set to seal the match in the fourth set.  In the fourth set, Djokovic – up 4-3 – had three chances to break the Nadal serve in the eighth game. But Nadal fought back with grit and aggression to reclaim the break points and win the game.  At this point, the match once again became an even contest.  In the tie-break, Djokovic was up 5-3 but Nadal fought back to take it 7-5.  The fifth set was played with pure adrenaline and a tireless mind, which kept the aching legs moving.  Djokovic took the final set 7-5, but only after a handsome array of ground strokes, where no corner and boundary of the court was spared.  Nadal showed that he is a fighter and Djokovic displayed determination in a marathon that lasted for almost six hours.  Ultimately, the game of tennis was a winner.
