Of chikni chamelis and munnis!

I just got back after watching Agneepath, great movie, although could have been shorter by 30-40 mins!

Anyways, coming to the subject of this post, our very own, very vibrant and very chikni chameli! I did wait for the song to come but was surprised that there was NO cheering (hooting) from the crowd. This lack of enthusiasm can be attributed to two facts: 1> I was in a multiplex where there won't be that typical crowd that occupies the front rows and whistles at even the appearance of the 'item' girl!! (no offence meant to the crowd, movie halls and the girls). 2> It is a thursday, so the theatre was relatively desolate!

Personally, I feel that this chameli number is useless, it is not even pleasant to hear, leave aside the video! I had the same thoughts sometime  back for sheila ki jawaani, although my respect for it has increased multiple times after this latest attempt at a crowd pulling item number. Trust me, chikni chameli looks like a desperate attempt to I-don't-know-what!! And since we are talking of item numbers, I am reminded of the 'mit jaaye gham' number from Dum Maaro Dum where Deepika (who I otherwise find very pretty and hot) just wore a skimpy outfit and tattooed herself and danced to some really hopeless lyrics.

If this is a war among our Bollywood beauties to put forth the item-est item number, I would declare Munni as the clear cut winner! Malaika actually created a phenomenon with the song. The lyrics, dance, music there are just perfect, and the best part, you cannot a sense as much as a pinch of vulgarity in the song.

Therefore, Munni, for the win!
